Infected Blood Support Scheme DOESN'T know how beneficiaries were infected
Factor 8 has received correspondence from EIBSS confirming that the English Infected Blood Support Scheme does not know how those claiming on the scheme were infected, for example whether the infection occurred as a result of Blood or Factor Concentrates.
Back in December we asked EIBSS…
a) How many of those 2,683 infected persons claim payments on the basis of infection through blood?
b) How many of those 2,683 infected persons claim payments on the basis of infection through blood-products?
c) How many of the 415 bereaved persons claim payments as a result of someone infected through blood?
d) How many of the 415 bereaved persons claim payments as a result of someone infected through blood-products?
We have now received a reply which states:
I am writing to advise you that following a search of our paper and electronic records, I have established that the information you requested is not held by the NHS Business Services Authority.
The England Infected Blood Support Scheme (EIBSS) is administered by the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) on behalf of the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC). The NHSBSA started to administer EIBSS on 1 November 2017 and when existing beneficiary data was transferred from the previous schemes, this level of detail was not included within this data.
