REVEALED: NHS planned a tour for blood scandal victims to see "modern blood safety practices"

Factor 8 can today reveal that as recent as this year, NHS Blood & Transplant were planning to host a tour of their Filton Blood Centre for those infected and affected by the Infected Blood Scandal, in order to showcase what they describe as “modern blood safety practices”.

Board minutes spanning from at least September 2018 to January 2019 discuss the plan.

NHS Blood & Transplant meeting minutes from September 2018 say:

The Filton Bristol Blood Centre will host tours of the facility for the infected and affected people involved in the Inquiry and the Inquiry team.

Further minutes in January 2019 state:

The format for the day, for infected and affected people is still being explored.

Factor 8 has not been able to find any further reference to the proposal after February 2019, indicating the plans may now have been dropped. This has not been confirmed.
