Contained within HIM/22//7/2, there are a series of "Blood Bank Week" and other publications and Mr MacNiven's name is featured on two of the distribution lists. Examples can be found on pages 38 & 53 of the pack of documents found at the link below.

It is not clear (from the ticks in the boxes) whether or not he actually received these publications but it may be worth clarifying and exploring if he did/should have received these publications which clearly contain important information.
